CAT-5/RJ-45 Wire Diagrams

When connecting a switch directly to another switch or a computer directly to another computer, and the devices do not support Auto-MDIX, a crossover Ethernet cable must be used. This cable uses T568A wiring on one end and T568B wiring on the other.

When connecting a computer to a network switch, a straight-through Ethernet cable is required. Both ends of the cable must be wired identically using either the T568A or T568B standard.
